Glass-Roving-Cutter to produce glass mats and glass fiber reinforced sandwich plates

Glass mat lamination

Endless glass fibers (rovings) are fed into the roving cutter and are cut to a specific length. The standard length could be approximately 6, 12, 24 or 48 cm. The cut fibers are falling evenly distributed on the conveyor belt or on a non-woven. Then thermoplastic adhesive powder is scattered on to the fibers for bonding the fibers. In the Meyer flatbed-laminator machine the powder is melted. Due to the integrated contact cooling of the flatbed-laminator the compound is cooled down and the glass mat is ready. This glass mat can be used as reinforcement in various molding application, especially for automotive headliners.

It is also possible to laminate complete glass reinforced sandwich plates in one production line with several layers of glass mats. These lines consists of several roving cutter and powder scatter and one flatbed laminating machine. For further questions and support please get in touch with us.

Not only glass fibers can be used, also basalt fibers, PP-fibers or carbon-fibers can be cut and laminated to a mat.
